Discover how thermal energy relates to matter and the behaviour of atoms.  Experiment with producing, changing and transforming thermal energy.  Explore materials that are conductors and insulators of heat energy.

Wind, water and ice change the shape of the land.

How on Earth?©

Experiment with the four things that make our Earth "work": sun, air, water and soil.  Observe the flow of energy from the sun and how air exerts pressure.  Discover the different types of soil and the processes of weathering and erosion.  Finish with an informative interaction with Earth's champion decomposers, the earthworms!

GRADE FOUR

All living things sense and respond to their environment.

Let's Be Sense-ible©

We make sense of our five senses!  Experiment with each of the five senses and discover how much we rely on them to thrive in our environment!

Matter has mass, takes up space and can change phase.

Under Pressure©

Learn how the movement of atoms and phases of matter are related.  Then, get ready as we take a look at the air around us. Become an air pressure expert as you experiment with adding and subtracting air pressure. Explore how temperature and the movement of atoms affect air pressure.  Discover the awesome power of air to lift desks, aircraft and finally launch a rocket!

Energy can be transformed.

Epic Edison©

Enter the amazing world of electricity!  Learn the connection between atoms and electricity.  Discover positive and negative charges as we experiment with "hair raising" static electricity.   Explore insulators and conductors.  Transform current electricity to kinetic energy, sound and light energy and create magnetism!

GRADE FIVE

Multicellular organisms have organ systems that enable them to survive ind interact within their environment.

C.S.I. Okanagan©
